Come autumn every year, seasonal ingredients often become the star of the show at our dining tables. Cauliflowers, eggplants, sweet potatoes, and pumpkins are used to prepare savoury dishes that pair well with the Indian staples of rice and roti.
This autumnal influence is not just limited to food. Even the coolers, teas & kaapis we regularly enjoy get spruced up with flavours like nutmeg, cinnamon, apples, figs and so on.
If you want to embrace this fall season with teas and MD kaapi, we’ve got some great ideas for you.
Pumpkin Spice Latte
One of the most common fall drinks you’re bound to see around you is the Pumpkin Spice Latte. It’s not for everyone, but the warmth that the pumpkin spice mix adds to the coffee appeals to a lot of people.
Our version of the PSL contains the Monsoon filter kaapi brew. The maple and nutmeg tasting notes in it add the perfect level of spice. You’re going to need milk, pumpkin puree, and vanilla extract. Heat this mixture in a pan for 5 minutes. Filter out the excess pulp, and add a shot of coffee to it.
You can top this off with cream and cocoa if you prefer.
Orange Ginger Tea
Citrusy and spicy, the orange ginger tea is one that you’ll keep coming back for even after autumn is over.
There are a couple of different ways you can prepare this tea. First, soak fresh orange peels in hot water and add a dash of orange juice, if you prefer a more strong orange flavour. To this, you can add the Lemongrass Ginger Tea loose leaves and brew tea.
Strain the mixture, and you’ve got yourself a fantastic cup of orange ginger tea. The sweetness of the lemongrass and orange balances well with the intensity of the ginger.
Alternatively, you can use the Lemongrass Ginger blend as a base. Create a brew by adding hot water to a couple of spoonfuls of orange preserve. You can then combine the two and mix evenly.
Cinnamon Iced Coffee
Go cold brew or cold filter. Either way, the cinnamon iced coffee is bound to be a great choice for an autumn day.
We recommend our Heritage blend for this drink. Autumn flavours are all about a balance of sweetness and spice. The sweetness of molasses and chocolate along with the spice of cinnamon becomes a refreshing combo when prepared as a cold coffee.
Depending on how you choose to brew your kaapi, you can either steep cinnamon sticks in the brew or add a pinch of cinnamon powder after adding milk and your choice of sweetener.
Spiced Apricot Tea
Apricot is yet another fall ingredient that you can take inspiration from. Since it already has a sweet and tangy flavour, you might want to pick a tea base that is pleasant and not too overwhelming.
Something like Earl Grey Tea would be suitable for this recipe. Additionally, you’ll need lemon juice, apricot nectar or chunks, and cinnamon. If you are using tea bags, make the brew first. While it is still hot, add the other ingredients and give it a good whisk.
Apple Cider Tea
To make apple cider tea at home, brew apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves for a few minutes. Once the flavours have been extracted into the brew sufficiently, add the English Breakfast organic tea leaves and let the mixture steep.
This tea is typically made with black tea leaves, but you can tweak the recipe as per your taste preferences. Some also prefer to add a dash of maple syrup as a sweetener to balance out the strong flavour of the English Breakfast tea.
